SCHEMa Light is A unique sequencing engine for weaving captivating melodic patterns
SUMMARY
I lead the 3D design process and created the artwork for Native Instruments' new Schema Light. My role in this project was to 3D model abstract orbs in their different modes, create a sci-fi 3D setting, ideate and iterate on several concepts, prototype each concept, and how it could best be presented to users in their workflow.

BRIEF
Schema Light is the second Schema engine Native Instruments has released. We want the artwork to be the opposite mood from its predecessor, Schema Dark.
• Keywords: Sci-Fi, high end, bright, geometric, glass, sophisticated.
• Colors: white, gold, metal.
R&D
Before landing on the creative direction referenced above, I modeled and rendered several concepts that helped shape the final result.
3D MODELING
The orbs were modeled in Plasticity. All of them were made with a sphere cut in four equal-sized quarters. These pieces were then modeled into abstract shapes while remaining cohesive to the orb as a whole.
TEXTURE & LIGHTING
The lighting was done using a 3 point light system inside Cinema 4D. The textures were simple but the challenge was in finding the best color combinations for the quadrants.

SCENE
The scene was laid flat down with two large sci-fi panels and a flat center with a greeble image in the bump channel of the texture.
• Camera: A parallel camera setup was needed in order to capture the orbs flat and evenly.
• Lights: I used a 3 point lighting system consisting of two wide lights plus an HDRI.

OUTCOME
SCHEMA LIGHT successfully launched suppling all users with an endless source of new ideas, packing a kaleidoscopic collection of soft, layerable upper-range loops.
